In March 2020 Catherine moved to Liverpool to be minister at St Columba URC, Hunts Cross, St George’s URC, Maghull, Pastoral Officer for the Liverpool Area of the Mersey Synod and to have a wider ministry with the Synod.
Catherine is a Scot born and bred and has lived in a few places both north and south of the border. Prior to training for ministry Catherine had a career within the NHS. Initially she trained as a nurse / midwife but then moved into more admin roles, finally working in the IT Department as a change manager.
When it come to what she believes Catherine has this to say:
I believe that God created the world and everything in it. I believe that human beings are all created equal and are made in the image of God. I believe that people were created to have a personal relationship with God, but this relationship is hindered because we are sinful. Jesus is God’s son and through his death and resurrection he has enabled us to have a close and personal relationship with God once again. I believe that God loves each of us unconditionally and forgives us our sins. The Holy Spirit provides us with the strength and guidance we need to live lives that reflect our relationship with God through Jesus.
I believe that the Gospel is for everyone. I believe Christians are called to speak out against injustice and inequality. I believe that actions speak louder than words and our faith should be evident from what we do and the way we treat others.
